Inner to Outer Healing

Have you ever said to someone, ‘I am bleeding on the inside or wish you could see my broken heart?’ I don’t know about you, but some words were spoken to me that cut so deep into my mental status that it bothers me for quite some time during those times. Many unpleasant thoughts went through my mind. Like what I should tell them, or one should avoid the person. There may even be thoughts of vengeance to hurt them even more than how one was hurt. But the words of God say forgiven as you love to be, forgiven. Was that saying hard to hear and firm? Yes. How could this be? The audacity of that person! Some people are just so mean, but why? The love of God is not within their hearts, so it’s hard for them to love. Therefore, one has to choose to let it go.

Psalms 147:3 says, “He heals the broken in heart, and bind up their wounds.”

When one accepts Christ as their Savior, the healing process starts and continues as His Spirit leads and guides. No one can see the inner wounds created by mean words or unkind treatment. The rejection of loved ones also causes damages of insecurities, distress, self-doubt, and the spirit of inferiority. People want to feel like they belong to a family or have a strong connection with friends. And when that feeling is lost or broken, emotional bridges are pulled down.

Letting go of self-blame and insecurities may not come easy. However, we are, reminded that the Lord is near those who have a broken heart and save, such as having a contrite spirit (Psalms 34:18). Allowing oneself to be engulfed by God’s presence, feel His energy of comfort and peace over you. Let God’s Spirit penetrate the heart, bringing healing.

When I opened my heart to Jesus Christ, letting him know how broken I was and that I could not do without him. He heard and brought transformation, infilling me with his spirit. It was the best thing, and I never experienced anything like that. What happened next was beyond my comprehension. I was light as a feather on my burdens lifted. I was at that place where forgiveness came easy. Asking others to forgive me if I had done them any wrong and to all those that did me wrong. That is why he said in Matthew 11:28,

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Permit the spirit of peace to find you. One will be able to let go of all the hurt one carry. One’s smile will become infectious because one is smiling from the mouth and the soul. The countenance now radiant is radiant because of the glow of contentment and inner peace.
